Salem, OR-- Sunday morning I heard a loud noise that sounded like a semi-truck barreling through our neighborhood. I looked outside and to my astonishment, the HUGE oak tree in my neighbor's yard had split and crashed to the ground taking other trees and powerlines with it. Miraculously, no one was hurt, no windows were broken, and the mess missed the neighbor's car by inches. Later that night, I heard another crash, one of the LARGE branches had fallen from the split tree and landed in my other neighbor's driveway. Thankfully, he had moved his cars. With all the ice and snow, branches on all our trees were heavy and falling all night. Needless to say, I did not sleep well. What wild winter weather!
