On December 17, I ventured out to a local park here in St. Helens, Or to take some pictures of the snow. At this point thinking that we would only get a couple inches and it would be gone in a day or two. I stood at the edge of the creek that runs through the park and took this amazing picture. This picture shows the stillness and amazing beauty nature has to offer us. The creek isn’t quite frozen and there is a light dusting of snow on the trees.
On December 22, I went back to the local park in St. Helens, Or. It has now been almost a week of this “so called” one day snow event. I wanted to get some more pictures of this wonderful sight. I hadn’t seen this much snow in Oregon at this low of elevation in my lifetime and being a photographer, this was a great opportunity. I made my way back to the same spot where I took the picture on the 17th, but this time I felt like I was taking a hike in the mountains. I made it back there and here is the picture. Amazing beauty and wonder that Mother Nature has given us. It is just awesome how beautiful this is when no one has walked on it, no one has touched it or anything. Just had to share.
McCormick Park in St. Helens, Oregon on December 22, 2008. This is a park bench that I have taken many pictures of people on. I guess there will be no picture taking opportunities today. Well, there could be if they had wings to fly them onto the bench…then they would have their own built in leg rests. If the snow keeps up we won’t even know that there is a bench there. It is so amazing how much snow we have received.
