Our pole building has withstood a lot in its 40 year life here in the hills west of Longview. During the past week we've had approximately 30 inches cumulative snowfall, with two feet now remaining on the ground. On Friday and Saturday we removed snow from other structures. Working on top of the pole building would have been extremely dangerous, and it had withstood equal amounts on previous occassions. The roof collapsed during the night Saturday, damaging or destroying two pickups, a farm tractor and other items. The silver lining to the story is that a portion of roof over the horse stall remained partially upright, saving the horse from injury.
