A massive winter storm has all but destroyed the once majestic hedge of the Elbert family of Newberg, OR. When asked what they were feeling about the devastation, all four of the family just shook their heads in sorrow. "We didn't live here in 2004, but it must have survived that. We're hoping it can bounce back again," stated Janice Elbert, 40, when confronted by the flattened greenery. The family plans to wait out the melt and then take stock of the situation.
In other Elbert family news, the two sisters were forced to shovel an upstairs deck free of snow, working up sweats that no one on a Christmas break from work should have to suffer. Carole Elbert, 39, posed for a photo by the snow layers to illustrate not only the depth, but the interesting ice crust of days past now buried halfway down.
When asked if the massive snow in Newberg would affect their Christmas, the Elberts replied that they would still be as festive and bright as possible. In fact, Louis, 81, and Ruth, 74, were pleased to announce that they sent their two dear children off into the drifts of snow to walk one mile to purchase ingredients for holiday treats and dinner. "We must have our lasagna," Ruth said of the traditional family dinner. "Even if no one else shows up to eat it." The sisters obviously agreed, since they made the tiring trek, hauling back sixty pounds of food between them. "Christmas will go on," said Janice. "God bless, and Merry Christmas."
