I live 5 miles west of Birkenfeld, between Vernonia and Jewell ....

We (7 homes) were without power for 16 days! It just came back on yesterday.

Then last night (Sunday) around 10:00 I heard a load crash, and looked out to discover the carport (attached to the barn) had collapsed onto my truck! We must have had 2 1/2 feet of snow at least, now it's ice and snow mixed.

Dave, from the Mist-Birkenfeld Fire Dept. came up at 9:30 and cut away the boards, tore down the aluminum, and somehow managed to get my truck out! I didn't think I'd be able to get up the long, long driveway for days but he managed to do it! Thank goodness, because I'm just about out of groceries and animal feed.
