Support Koins For Kenya, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization building schools and promoting education in Kenya.
Last year, Lakeridge High School raised $4,000 to build a school in Kenya through Koins For Kenya. In the summer, residents of Lake Oswego, young and old alike, raised $30,000 to build a library for that school, also through Koins For Kenya. Now, YOU can help by filling that library with books!
Children walk up to 5 miles to get to school everyday. Usually they have no desk to sit on, so they sit on the cold, hard, dirt ground. The shoddy roof made of straw above provides little protection against the sudden torrential rain. To top it off, there is only enough textbooks for 1 out of every 3 students—that means that 3 students share one book to learn from. What would drive them to walk so far every day, to sit on cold ground, to not have their own textbook to study from? Their desire for learning!
How can you help? Simple! Come to Lakeridge Key Club’s “Books 4 Books” book sale and not only buy yourself a book, but buy a child, thirsting for knowledge, a book in Kenya. 100% of the proceeds from this book sale will be benefitting Koins For Kenya. And because Koins For Kenya is entirely run by volunteers, equaling no administrative costs, you know that 100% of your money will end up in Kenya.
