Sam Adams

Sam Adams

I do not understand the over-all publics dismay with Sam Adams. Of course he lied about his personal life. If he had told the truth, between the homo-phobic portion of the community and the parents of teens, he would have lost the election. This happened between two consenting adults. I am ashamed of our country constantly bringing these topics into the battle. Fight fair. It reminds me of Bill Clinton. Of course he lied. And if we had accused Kennedy of sleeping with Marilyn Monroe...He would have lied, also. What is done behind closed doors, between two consenting adults is their business. I don't feel this is any indication that he will be a dishonest politician. It shows him keeping his bedroom door locked from the publics eyes, as everyone's should be. And if you, or anyone you know or work with were asked about their affairs, would they be honest. Men and women are cheating on their spouses everyday. They are even sleeping with an older/younger partner. Why are there so many hypocrits out there that want to hang Clinton and Adams for it? Clinton didn't do such a horrid job. He could have done much worse. Like say...hmmm...Bush, who never cheated on his wife or slept with a younger woman (as far as we know). Just helped our country's detoriation. So by all means...Boot Adams out. I am sure we can find someone more capable of keeping his closet locked. But what will the condition of our state be in, when he is finished.

Dishonesty is still dishonesty. I bet Dohmer managed to do his job too. We as a sociity have a duty to hold our elected officials to a high standard, or eventually we'll wind up with some one like Dohmer in a position of power. No more lyars please!

Sam is arrogantly staying in office for one big reason: HE GETS FREE LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND ADVICE FROM THE PORTLAND CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE. What about that don't people understand? He'd have to retain a private criminal defense attorney!

When people, like any mild mannered animal, are backed into a corner, they are going to try to survive, no matter what. It wasn't right that the opponet in this past election had nothing good to say about himself, so he chose to attack Sam.

Todd: He didn't lie to get elected. He kept his personal business private. No one even had the right to ASK those questions, let alone expect an answer. Whether you think so or not, politicians have the right to privacy just like anyone else.

Can you be a politician and not lie? Does it not go with the territory? Sad but true. Sam has does some good things for Portland. If we do let him go how do we know the next person has no issues? Is the goal to run his life or elect a good Mayor?

twist your mind to consider if it had been an 18 year old girl- Adams needs to go

Todd says ... on Friday, Jan 23 at 3:46 PM

You honestly do not think that he will be a dishonest politician? How can you say that when he lied in the first place to get elected? What if there is another "situation" where he feels that if he tells the truth that it will look bad for him?

I agree totally! At least someone else has some clue on all this.

I couldn't agree with you more... I don't even live in Portland, but I'm pulling for him to stay on as Mayor. I think as long as he runs office with Portland's people in mind, then he'll do just fine.

Your an absolute idiot if you think Adams had no intention of doing anything before he turned 18. He groomed him while underage. They may not have done the deed before he was 18, but I'll bet other bases were rounded before then.
