Over the past couple of years, I've been locating the largest known redwoods for exploring, recreation and interest. And found the top 5 largest. Largest by volume.
And I hoped to located the tallest redwood too. But it's location is a secret, and not one image has ever been released online that I'm aware of. The attached photograph.
Spring of 2009 was my planned goal to find the tallest tree in the world, when temperatures are a bit warmer. But when I drove over the Oregon border into what some call "The State of Jefferson" last January, I noticed that the streams were not too high, and the sun was out.
So I went into Redwood National Park to explore on remote valley, just to get a feel for the area. With the sunshine, I had enough light to gain some elevation, and finally found Hyperion.
Needed to wade in water about a third of the time, but eventually rose up a hillside into the forest trees and started looking..
This is for a fact, Hyperion.
