In the river channel between St. Helens, Oregon and Sand Island is a restricted speed zone marked by two buoys. It appears that one of the buoys has been shredded by the propeller of a boat passing over it. That is only my speculation, not having witnessed the event, but I wonder how fast the boat may have been going. This particular buoy still reads, "SLOW", "NO WAKE", and used to read "5 MPH". Photo was taken March 5, 2009.
Things that go bump in the night.
