Taking a break from optometry school at Pacific University in Forest Grove I met my family at Crow Butte State Park located on an island in the middle of the Columbia, 3 hours from Portland. It was a cold rainy weekend but it was worth it freezing in the tent when I slowly pulled this 30 inch, 12.b Walleye out of the river on 3/21/09 at 5:15 PM.

Once all the big breeding females are gone I guess there is always Ivars right? Don't you have some baby fur seals to go kill now!!!

Hey "Doink Wad"! Way to go......killing a such a nice spawner. Most sportsmen would let a fish such as yours go! That is the sporting thing to do. Shame to you!!!!!

Can't believe this Doink Wad kept a brood spawner. Junior Woody aka "optometry boy" should have stayed in Oregon rather being responsible for the death of a fish which was sure to produce bountiful off-spring. Way to go you putz "Doink Wad"

Most of those big walleye are female and if you put them back they will make more. The best eating ones are the 18 inch size.

Rhonda, there is no Walleye "season". Open all year. There are bag limits however. The largest fish are usually caught in very early spring.
