JoeHummer in Action

We have always thought that nature not unlike people had a natural cautiousness to new environments and the level of cautiousness or fear was elevated or decreased by the belief that the new environment was either dangerous or safe. Hummingbirds, as small and fragile as they are can undergo training and learn to trust. We have been working with JoeHummer for about 2 weeks now and we feel as if we are making real progress. There is no hesitation on Joe's part to approach us and land on our finger to feed. Each day we spend time with Joe to further expand the level of trust Joe has that we are not here to cause it any problems. Joe still has a ways to go....teaching Joe it's name and to come when called has still proven to be quite a challenge, but we have hope.

This is the formula that I use: 1 Part Sugar 4 Parts Water Boil 1-2 Minutes Cool & Store In Refrigerator so that would be 1 cup water and 1/4 cup sugar

Tthe simple hummingbird feeders work great. Called Garden Treasures, inexpensive, available at Lowes. Dissolve a 50/50 (sugar/water) mix over medium heat until clear.Let cool. No need to add food coloring. Should work if they're around. Good Luck

I wish I could get a Hummer. Just can't get no satisfaction. Am I using the wrong birdfeeders to attract the little hummers?

I have been trying to do this for some time. My kids thought I was crazy! My grandma used to have a hummingbird land on her hand years ago so I've been working at it.
