Severe Storm in Beaverton

At 3:45 pm on May 2nd I got out my camera since I heard the rain just pouring down and caught this as it actually worsened! It was exciting to see it happen, at least to me it was since we rarely get anything severe like this. This was taken from my home in Beaverton.

Spent time in Australia have seen storms of this magnitude every afternoon for a week at a time lasting an hour or two with baseball sized ha. They come in as quickly as they pass so quickly that waterfall like torrents are still running down gutters

This is an invasion from a Galaxie far, far away. I know, because I was in the first wave. More will follow. You will soon see us rule, then consume this planet. We will, of course, eat the fat ones first. Yum.

Why is it that people seem to forget from year to year what happens? We had more intense thunderstorms at this time last year than the one we had yesterday. We'll probably have a few more as we move into late spring/early summer.

Some people are saying this is just a normal Oregon spring thunder storm. Some people are saying they have never seen anything like it. Both are correct. In most places it was a normal thunder storm. But in some places it created funnel clouds.

Thank you all for the comments of this footage. I moved here 2 and a half years ago from Seattle where I lived for 12 years, and even up there I never saw a rainstorm with a severity like this. The high winds and heavy rain made this a rare event.

Hey Curly, where were you for the past two years, where we were having weeks of on and off severe thunderstorms? Just sayin'...

Curly says ... on Sunday, May 3 at 1:58 PM

I am a native Oregonian and have never in my 52 years, EVER, seen or heard a storm like that. I thought the windows in my house were actually going to blow out!

This was NOT a normal spring storm. We get wind and rain but nothing like what happened yesterday is "normal". This makes you remember, once again, the power of the weather. Great video and I shared your excitement. Truly awesome storm for 5 minutes.

I work in retail and all the plants out front were blowing into the parking lot...and another retailer had the awnings blow over out front of there store. Its normal for Oregon.

No this is not a normal spring storm ... not in my 21 years here

Aw, this was a regular spring storm! Trust me, they get even bigger and nastier (and more beautiful) in other parts of the country. And no, an errant thunderstorm is not a symptom of global warming. The atmospheric conditions were just right.

Got caught in it here in Vancouver while driving. It was every bit as strong when it hit here as well. Makes you marvel at the raw power of nature. Also makes one wonder if it is a symptom of something bigger.
