Raccoon on front porch near DT Beavertoan

Around 6 pm today, I heard my cat Tiffany hiss and scratching on my patio door. Wondering which cat it is now she hates, I go to investigate and see a raccoon!! I immediately grab my digital camera, took a couple pictures and start rolling the video when it came up close. The door was open and it was just him/her? and me. I love wildlife, but I did not make any attempt to pet it. I know it is a wild animal but it obviously is used to being around humans for it to be so 'friendly' or maybe it was just very curious. When they say "Wildlife at your front door" they really mean it here!

I feed the feral cats and usually I see around 5 raccoons every night and sometimes during the day. I have had a small raccoon come up to me where I was sitting and put his front paws on my leg. Of course I didn't move and stayed very still

Racoons are very cute but be careful with them. They have been known to hurt/kill small domestic pets. The cat in the video was smart enough to recognize this and wanted to be safe in the house. Protect the cat by not leaving dry food out.

Racoons can't see very well during the day and I don't think this one was a pet. It was hungry and could not see very well! Do not EVER attempt to pet a racoon! They are the #1 carrier of Rabies! They will bite you!
