Mr. Lucky 3 weeks after we adopted him.

Abused horse finds new home

We adopted an abused horse on Easter Sunday. He was one of the many horses that were starving to death in Eastern Oregon, by a woman who was collecting them to send to Mexico for meat. Dozens of them died, and many more went to new homes. We named him Mr. Lucky because we feel he was so lucky to be spared, and we feel so lucky to have gotten a horse that someone had loved before she got him. Obviously he had been well trained, and handled in such a way by his earlier owners, that he is very gentle and trusting. He is gaining his weight back and we are conquering his many skin issues. Otherwise, he seems very healthy, and happy to have a good home.

This picture of him is after 3 weeks in his new home. He is losing his winter hair, but he is also losing hare because of his skin problems. His hair is now coming back in. We are very pleased with his progress so far.

Was there any penalties toward this sick woman? Did she get cited for animal abuse?

You are to be commended for your kind heart! If I had the space I'd take as many as I could....Unfortunately I don't. So know that your efforts are appreciated by many who cannot do what you've done!

Thank you for being so kind as to adopting and giving this horse a fantastic new home. I'm sorry that the other horses who perished did not have the same luck. I say send that woman to Mexico instead!!!
