Cotton ball sky, Redmond, Or 5/29

Strangest cloud formation ever

It was about 8:45pm on 5/29 and I was watching the lightning to the east and I looked up and saw the strangest cloud formations I have ever seen. They looked like cotton balls. They did not last very long as the storm was moving fast. Not sure what kind of clouds they were, but they were sure pretty.

These are called Mammatus clouds. this formation indicates very active weather. They usually signal a strong updraft from a severe thunderstorm, which in this case thats what it was. These formations are most common in the Midwest.
