I took this picture from my house in Independence, just prior to the heavy rains starting, along with lots of lightning strikes. I have counted 15-20 lighting strikes flashing to the ground here in Independence. Lots of rolling thunder.

Thats a shelf cloud, it indicates rotation within the thunderstorm updraft. That storm we had was very intense. I was lucky to still have power that afternoon. Trees were swaying hard and debris was everywhere.
