Bally's staff was only notified Monday, June 15 of the planned closure of the Sports Center location on Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy. The gym will be closing permenantly at the end of the month. Patrons are now greeted by a sign that reduces the current hours and other locations near by. Staff hopes they will be relocated. The Sports Center location has been removed from the companies website.

I just cancelled at LA and they make you sign a form and turn it in and then they cancel you at their leisure. I had 2 more withdrawals from my account before they cancelled me. All memberships are written in the corporations favor.

Read this regarding canceling your membership, very useful: http://www.doj.state.or.us/releases/2000/rel111400.shtml. Also, I'd say making changes to a signed contract automatically invalidates it (i.e. upgrading everyone to a national contract).

I tried to cancel too, they gave me the run around then tried to say that I need to pay $75 to cancel my contract. I'm still working on this...

If you Google Bally Going Bankrupt you'd find out the gyms all over the united states are going into bankruptcy hence the run around. Either cancel your credit card which they use or if the gym is being sold the new owners may honor Ballys contract.

Does anybody know if a store closure amounts to a cancellation-eligible situation? I'd like to cancel my membership, since next-closest store is a bit of a hike.

I belong to this gym. Once I heard this, I called the 800# to cancel my membership and was given the runaround. They said they would stop charging my card, but my membership was not cancelled. This does not make sense. I am not on a long term eit
