I have a story to share and you are my only Newstimes contact. I thought I would send some info and pics to you with hopes that you could get it to the right person to share with our community. The Statesman Journal was at the dock to greet us. They ran an article today about our journey as well.
My Signifiicant Other, is Captain Darrell Harper. His deckhand is his Son, Zach Harper. They are the great team that operates the F/V Umatilla II, that runs out of Newport Marina Store and Charters, in South Beach.
Sat. June 20th was opening Salmon Day. We headed out to sea early in the morning. We had high hopes, but really didn't know for sure where the fish were, or if we would find any. So together, we prayed about it the evening before. We would need 18 limits of fish to accomplish our goal.
It was an phenonemal day at sea! We had mutiple hook-ups constantly! People were yelling out FISH-ON, FISH-ON! There was so much excitment and adreneline in the air! Nets were flying! Fish were flapping all over the deck!!!!
We achieved our goal of 74 fish and even made it back to the dock early!
Our hearts are filled with gratitude to have been blessed with such a bountiful catch. It is always a pleasure to share in our customers' and our dreams coming true!
We were also gifted with a rare sighting of a funnell cloud. I wil attach those in a seperate email.
Sincerely,
Pamela Amperse'

My understanding of the salmon limit is that out of Newport, it is 3 finclipped salmon of which none can be a chinook. If there were 18 limits taken it should have been a total of 54 fish not 74. I certainly hope this is just a typo!
