My companion pets are unique due to the fact that they all have their own disabilities.
Doobies hurt her eye somewhere while out, she went missing for about one week and returned home just as the family was getting ready to move out. Even with her blind eye, she keeps it right and if a threat is needed, she will do her "blind eye" glare.
Shadow was the first pet that my daughter gave me after my husband's death in 1999. She has remained my "shadow" ever since the first day I had her. She does like to "blend" into her envrionment while keeping watch over the others.
Now Mello, he is my friend's cat (James Morgan). He just kicks back and is waiting for his "person" to get back and pick him up. He is however the alpha male in the household, but he does know better than to cross Shadow or Doobies.
