READY, SET, SEW FOR KIDS IN NEED 10-10!

BINKY PATROL'S 14th ANNUAL BINK-A-THON
SCHEDULED TO CELEBRATE "MAKE A DIFFERENCE" DAY

September 24, 2009 – Beaverton, OR – Get Ready. Get Set. Sew! The Beaverton chapter of Binky Patrol's "Comforting Covers for Kids" will host its 13th annual Bink-A-Thon on Saturday, October 10, 2010 at the home of Binky Patrol founder, Susan Finch. The national event, which coincides with this year's national "Make a Difference Day," is organized to produce "as many blankets as possible in one day" for ill, abused or disadvantaged children. The local chapter is hosting it earlier in the month.

"The Bink-A-Thon offers a unique opportunity for individuals or an entire family to make a difference in the life of a child or teen," commented Susan Finch, Beaverton resident and founder of Binky Patrol. "There are stations set up for sewing, tying the blankets off with yarn or creating “no-sew” fleece binkies. You don't have to be 'a sewer' to get involved; just willing to work hard all day to comfort others."

Twelve Binky Patrol chapters throughout the nation will participate in the Bink-A-Thon, donating blankets produced during their local event to children in their hometowns (Mechanicville, NY, Crawfordsville, IN, Marysville, WA, and Villa Park, CA). Last year, 3,500 binkies found loving new homes across the country; this year, the national goal is 5,000.

"Individuals who wish to donate funds..." Everyone has their grubby hands out these days, huh?
