This black bear strolled through our back yard September 21st at 4:37pm. It is about 300 lbs and 5 ft. tall. It stopped and munched on some "mock cherries", then continued on. We live about a half mile north of White Salmon WA. This is the 4th time we have seen it. It has been seen near city limits and trails in Jewett Creek Canyon. There are alot of bear and cougar in this area according to Fish and Wildlife. Beautiful animal but a little too close to people. This is the first bear seen here since 1959 near our home. Also had cougar within 10 feet of the house in last couple of years.

If you want to deter the use of your yard for strolls by local critters, your husband might consider relieving himself outdoors from time to time to "mark his territory"...assuming that your closest neighbors aren't within view of your yard!

That's just a TV reporter hiding behind a cardboard cutout of a black bear.

And, I might add, I'm smarter than the average bear! Hey, hey, hey! (How many bears do you know that surf the web?)

Anybody seen BooBoo or Snagglepuss? They stole my jelly doughnuts and were last seen headed back toward Jellystone Park. If you see either of them, please contact Ranger Smith or Major Minor. I'll be with my GF, Cindy Bear. Hey, hey, hey.
