Could this happen to us?

Could we get any earthquakes?

Could we get any earthquakes here in Oregon? Well, considering the position of the tectonic plates under us, what position they are in and the activity around the Pacific Ring of Fire, it is belived that it is very possible. But when? There really isn't a way to tell exactly, but to tell the truth, it could happen at anytime. Everybody should learn about earthquake awareness. To keep an eye on activity, I recommend this website:

Everyone should know how much activity is going on in their area and know what to do incase of a earthquake.

I posted this to help people be aware of Earthquakes and the Possiblity of one happening. Stay safe!

Yes, of course we could have a devastating earthquake here, but we could also be invaded by martians from outer space. Be afraid, be very afraid.

This is a good time to make sure that "emergency backpack" is updated with necessary supplies/Rx/etc.

Earthquakes should be a legitimate concern for anyone living here. We are very close to the Cascadia subduction zone. If you want to learn about what those are, just look on wikipedia. Just think about the Indonesian earthquake in 2004, same thing.

Visit Pacific Northwest Seismic Network at There's a ton of useful information and reports of earthquake locations and magnitudes around the Pacific Northwest.

Could the recent South Pacific quakes actually be underground nuclear tests by North Korea and/or Iran?

I thought the Portland Metro area was exempt from earthquakes because of the deal we made with Ikea and their huge sign. I thought the sign was actually the main frame of a new underground Swedish earthquake force field. Heard we got it super cheap.

Actually, the USGS has been regularly visiting the community leaders at the coast saying it is not a matter of IF but WHEN that subduction zone off the coast snaps. They do know that pressure is building. Anyone who isn't prepared...foolish!

As a Jr Geologist wannabe=learned enough to be afraid. Quakes off shore are very telling of whats in store for us. Just a matter of time pressure gets released. St Helens will pale in comparison. Search Mt Mazama & Crater Lake= WILL terrify you!
