Could we get any earthquakes here in Oregon? Well, considering the position of the tectonic plates under us, what position they are in and the activity around the Pacific Ring of Fire, it is belived that it is very possible. But when? There really isn't a way to tell exactly, but to tell the truth, it could happen at anytime. Everybody should learn about earthquake awareness. To keep an eye on activity, I recommend this website: www.eathquake.usgs.gov

Everyone should know how much activity is going on in their area and know what to do incase of a earthquake.

I posted this to help people be aware of Earthquakes and the Possiblity of one happening. Stay safe!

Actually, the USGS has been regularly visiting the community leaders at the coast saying it is not a matter of IF but WHEN that subduction zone off the coast snaps. They do know that pressure is building. Anyone who isn't prepared...foolish!

I thought the Portland Metro area was exempt from earthquakes because of the deal we made with Ikea and their huge sign. I thought the sign was actually the main frame of a new underground Swedish earthquake force field. Heard we got it super cheap.

Visit Pacific Northwest Seismic Network at www.pnsn.org. There's a ton of useful information and reports of earthquake locations and magnitudes around the Pacific Northwest.

Earthquakes should be a legitimate concern for anyone living here. We are very close to the Cascadia subduction zone. If you want to learn about what those are, just look on wikipedia. Just think about the Indonesian earthquake in 2004, same thing.
