I-5 Northbound near Albany 12/08/09 about 2p.m. Police with their guns drawn at pulled over RV

Police with guns drawn on I-5 12-08-09

My girlfriends and I were on our way back from the beach today and did not expect to run into police pointing guns at an RV on the interstate.

As we were driving northbound on I-5 a police car came accross the median from the southbound lane infront of us. The officer turned on his lights and stopped infront of us right in the middle of I-5. There were two other officers with their gun pointing at a RV on the side of the road. The third officer also pulled out his gun and pointed it at the RV. Within minutes there were about six more officers all around us also with their guns drawn.

It was so scary, we were right behind the officers. All we could think was if the guy in the RV starts shooting at the officers we could get shot. So we all ducked down in the truck.

When they finally got the man out of the RV they searched him and put him in a police car. He also had two dogs that the police had to get off the road before they opened the interstate. The dogs were very scared and barked at the officers. It didn't take long for them to get the dogs back in the RV. Then they opened I-5 back up and we were able to get home to our families.

We are all curious what happened.

Did anyone ever find out why they were after the guy in the RV and did anyone come to take care of the dogs?

"...a pistol round is unlikely to penetrate your windsheild, and certainly not the truck. Pistols fizzle out pretty quick...." Are you crazy! .45 bullet will still blow your brains out at 100 yds....and we are not even talkin' Mr. 357!

You go ahead and test that theory Khadijah. You might like being a bullet catcher.

Khadijah, what if the suspect had an AK47 or any other kind of assault rifle - and that's why he was stopped in the first place? I'm just sayin'....

Given the circumstances, it was one of two good options. a.) The best would have been to back up a good 500 yards b.) The next best is to do what you did. Good thinking :)

At the apparent range, a pistol round is unlikely to penetrate your windsheild, and certainly not the truck. Pistols fizzle out pretty quick.

I'm guessing Jorge Fernandez Espenoza may not be from around here. We, US citizens, tend to stop for police not go flying by them.

Duh Jorge..your a smart one...you stop for the police...only idiots would drive around the road block..DUH

jorge fernandez espenoza, maybe because of something called a road block that the officers put up so no one could drive past what was going on, duh!

Jorge Fernandez Espenoza says ... on Thursday, Dec 10 at 11:01 AM

How come you didnt go around the cop cars and get outta the way instead of ducking down and being scared? Duhhh

Don't count on the "news" media to fill in the blanks.
