We found Pepper ourselves about 2 months ago. He just wandered into our lives at a time when we needed him most. Robert (12) has been praying for a dog just like Pepper. He showed up about 2 weeks after we found out that Gary, the kids Father, was dying of Liver Failure.
Pepper showed up and brightened our lives. We found his original owner and he did not want him anymore. We sure did. Pepper will do anything for a ball. He slept with the kids each night. Michalah(9) used to laugh each night when he would get on her bed and snort and roll around.
We are spending this season with broken hearts. Not only dealing with the illness of their Father, the loss of such a sweet stress reliever. I printed out and posted 93 flyers around the area. We have checked the local shelters each day. I have adds in the paper and on craigslist.
As I go through the process of trying to find Pepper, I have learned a lot. There are many people out there heartbroken over the loss of their pet. I know that small dogs are very popular and do not always get returned.
I just want to encourage people, especially at this time of year, to consider the families that are greiving over the loss of a pet. If you see a lost dog, you can call your local shelter and tell them that you will care for the animal if the owner does not come forward. However, please make every attempt to check the papers, shelters, and craiglists to see if you have someones loved family pet.
All I want for Christmas is Pepper

Sorry for your losses. Hope you find Pepper soon. We microchip all our pets (2 dogs, 1 cat) so they could be returned to us if ever lost. It actually paid off once a few years ago when our dogs were returned to us after an "escape" from backyard
