Sturgeon do migrate, but not all of them. Some stay. If the belly is yellow and the spines on there sides and back are not sharp, throw them back. They are local. The rest are great to eat. I am still alive after 30 years of eating them.

Actually sturgeon are a migratory fish and do not reside in the Willamette all year round. Like all migratory fish, they are healthy to eat in moderation due to ocean mercury contamination
