During the half-time of the McMinnville vs. Newberg varsity boys basketball game, Steven Ulvang sunk a $5,000 half court shot that is going to make the end of his Senior year a memorable. Ulvang along with fellow classmates and community members all bought tickets to be entered into the raffle ran by McMinnville's ASB leadership class. The ASB class helped sponsor the two $5,000 shots that Ulvang and Senior Spencer Bauman got the chance to make. After a just high miss by Bauman, Steven stepped up and after a couple of dribbles threw the ball up on a prayer. Audibly his prayer was heard by the crowd as the resounding "Swoosh" -nothing but net- that caused the Grizzly fans to storm the court in happiness and congratulations. With the Newberg crowd shut down after the momentum boost for the Grizzly supporters, McMinnville went on to dominate the Tigars and earn their way back into the 3 way first place tie. The night was a good one for all, especially for Steven who made the most of his once in a lifetime chance.
