Remember the time where you had to use "film" to record family memories or to record a favorite pet? Perhaps an event Erupted like MT St Helens from the blue and you had to look for that unused film canister.
If you had the money you were lucky to to have the cameras that had a built in mike and if you were really rich, you had a camera that had stereo mikes.
They actually used mics and then transfered the sound through a special light and that light then would etch a wave pattern onto the film.
then came the Short lived Beta units, they were compact and one could use them for recording video and got some what better video then the old film cameras. But they had a weakness in Low light, still the consumers had to fork over a Hefty amount of cash.
Later came VHS these cameras were ok but still had issues with low light.
then came the digital tape. this began a revolution in Video making,
People could now spend 400 doalrs and gt a camera that could record video and then store it to a PC. which gave consumers the power to play.Later Adobe made some great software for editing like Premier 6.0 KATU Knows all to well the changes that have taken Place and there graphics editor really knows well the changes of todays camera as he started out in KLTV.
Now here we have this.
The evolution of the newer cameras out to day.
though still expensive at around nearly 2 grand this camera can do night vision, High speed bursts and really get in close to its subjects.
It has a built in HDD as well as a GPS , The HDD can store up to 7 hours of video. That is just past the 6 hours of a VHS recorded on SLP.
you can transfer the HD video to the PC and you can even take standard video with the unit.
You also can stabilize the image .
5 years ago one would have needed a camera with a floating lens, then have an add on Night Vision Lens , and an additional Zoom lens.
Then you had issues with needing all the batteries.
to days technology has resulted in people being able to make low budget movies or just have fun in making this kind of Video.
Imagine, 5.1 channel surround sound we as consumers are in a time where we have nearly professional cameras at our finger tips.
even the standard cameras can get better video in Low light. and you can even get a cheap 120 dollar digital still cam with the option of video with mono. a good video camera will run you 200-300 at least.
Welcome to the Digital Age my friends, soon cameras will be able to mount to a pair of glasses and they will record in 3d or perhaps use special tracking technology to create a hologram. You think that is far fetched? What did you first think when I mentioned a camera with night vision and GPS built in to it?
So sit back and enjoy the show.
Soon this camera will be even obsolete when the time comes.
