We took this picture off of our docks this morning of all the fishermen on the Columbia River. Yes those dots in the back are boats! Just goes to show you how many people are out of work, they are just not letting it get them down. Happy fishing guys!

There was a fishing tournament going on today too. I know for a fact that a lot of those guys fishing are hard working guys that have earned their money to pay for gas and gear. A lot of them are 3-4 to a boat to save money. Go guys.

Caption is poorly selected if 'journalist' didn't get an accurate portrait of the employment status etc of the fishermen. R1682 - no correlation between toys & employment status $482 per week, no benefits, etc isn't living. Barely surviving IMO

What a stupid caption. I was out there, along with 4 working buds and a retired guy. We make a good living, my buddy's boat cost him 30K!, and each rigging, line, rod, reel, bait, runs at least 200$ per set-up. We used vacation time.

Most posts were based upon the title of the photo. No one made assumptions just elaborated on the photographers choice of title.

You obviously haven't paid attention when the economy is good. The scene you're looking at is nothing new and I'd actually bet there are less boats out there than ever before due to the economy. Bad assumption on the posters part on this one.

Yep, some of us work four ten-hour work shifts, meaning we get a THREE DAY weekend! Or as Uhhh said, people have accumulated vacation time

and how about those of us who work weekends 3 weekdays 50-60 hours a week. sounds like a pitty party to me.

Who says all these fisherman are "unemployed?" Salmon runs just started, people have accumulated vacation time, why not use some and have some fun on the river?

How does one on unemployment afford a multi thousand dollar boat and the resources to run it??

Its nice to know the unemployed who make more than me on unemployment are enjoying themselves at my expense.

The good ol, hey I can't buy food, I'll get it myself :) I bet the department of fish and wildlife has seen a boost in its sales of fish licenses.
