Jet writes messages in sky to attract new customers. It reads: "COOL MOON"

Cool Moon Ice Cream Company Gets Attention in the Sky

A new ice cream company catches the attention of many Wednesday night in a new kind of way. Cool Moon Ice Cream Company, the newly opening ice creamery, hired a jet to fly overhead Portland and write a message in the sky that few could miss. It read: "Cool Moon Ice Cream". Many were amazed that a company would use such creative marketing techniques to advertise a company.

The kids loved it! Creative maybe, but not a new idea. Sky writing was a near weekly event in the 1970's, along with the BIG spot lights, where everyone wanted to drive to see what was happening at the light...whatever happend to those?

It was pretty cool - our entire family went out on the front lawn to watch it happen! AND it made me come in and google "Cool Moon Ice Cream" and get some background information on it. We will be visiting in September!
