Here is a beautiful 10 pound trout caught this spring at Canyon Creek Ranch in Mitchell, Oregon. This 13 acre lake has beautiful trout ranging in size from 16 inches up to these beautiful, feisty monsters. Fly fishing only, catch and release, barbless hooks...makes for quite a fun day of fishing. There is also a 2-acre bass and bluegill pond on the property that is great for fishing poppers. And, you're truly in beautiful high-desert country. One of the unique aspects of this lake is that you need to drive through the majestic Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. This makes for a really fun, beautiful day or weekend. And the air? OMG, the sage and juniper really perfumes the air. And, it's nice to get out of the valley rain!

To fish this private lake, you book through The Fly Fishers Place in Sisters, Oregon. Very nice group of guys, but you don't need a guide to fish.

Relax everyone, t's a beautiful fish and story Sounds like a great day to escape the normal day dredgary and breath some fresh air while casting a line. I would love to land a trout lke that. ;-)

Beautiful fish, great story too. The differences are; would you rather eat a fish from Canby or pristine Canyon Creek country, you enjoy the beauty in the drive to & while fishing at Canyon Lake or prefer standing in Canby, what's in the water?

Doesn't much matter to me whether it's 2 lbs or 10 lbs - most of the story is about the beauty. Thanks for sharing the fish and surroundings with us, Peggy. Good job!

Nice catch. 10 lb trout. That is great. I just moved from Alaska and although the salmon and halibut are big, our trout don't run that large. They are fun to fish for. I look forward to going.

Not very impressive, I catch fish like that in Canby Pond all the time....
