PRESS RELEASE
Scout to build bus stop in Aurora
for local school kids
After working for over 10 months on designs and details with engineers, architects, the City of Aurora, and several county and state agencies, a Boy Scout’s dream is starting to become a reality.
Life Scout Michael Templin from Troop 559 in Aurora, as part of his Eagle Scout Community Service Project, had an idea of providing a shelter on Highway 99 E in Aurora so that the local kids in his neighborhood would not have to wait in the rain for the local school bus. After months of meetings with neighbors, design professionals and local and state government officials, the final phases of the design process are finished and Michael has received a permit to build his project.
Says Michael, “ This phase of the project has been a long time coming. It has been a long, hard process but it has been worth it. It’s fun and exciting to see this start to come together. With luck, we will have this bus stop completed in time for the kids to use it when school starts in September.”
Groundbreaking ceremonies are scheduled for Tuesday August 21 at 3:00 pm. The shelter will be built in Michael’s neighborhood on Highway 99 E just south of Orchard Avenue.
