I was 8 when Mt St Helens erupted and 30 years later finally up to Johnston Observatory to see the mountgain up close and personal.
I was shocked and amazed at the level of destruction still showing after 30 years. While there are new trees and wildlife living in the blast zone, there are still dead and blown down trees viewable, allowing me to realize how devastating the eruption was and remains today.
If you have never been to the observatory, I urge you to go and see if up close and personal.
