Greening inner southeast Portland

Friends of Trees partnered with both PGE and Pacific Power to plant 38 trees around a joint substation on SE 8th and Harrison. This project will transform two city blocks that were concrete and steel giving the nearby residents and workers a bit of beauty and shade. The trees will also help intercept stormwater, keeping the Willamette River clean. Trees were installed by Verde - a nonprofit landscape contractor that provides jobs and training to disadvantaged people.
