This ship was my home away from Portland my other home. It would be nice to have them both together. Please look at the website:
www.USSRanger.org and see if you can help.
Thanks

I served as ships company on Ranger for 3 years. I worked on the sea sparrow missile system. I really hope that the ship will be moved to portland area and used as a museum. I feel there would be alot of interest. They should'nt just scrap her.

The picture is of the USS Independence (CVA/CV-62). Any Rangerman should notice that the pictured ship has no forward gun sponsons. Ranger's were never taken off. They were only modified late in her life for the Phalanx gatling gun.

Yes and donations are needed from small donors like me and hopefully others first before the big donators start giving. It's all from donations and none from taxes. It will bring in jobs, boost local business in many areas.

I served 2 years in the forward engine room aboard this ship. She is past her prime but a fine lady.
