This afternoon (June 27th) there was a traffic jam on I-84 just east of the Dalles. After being at a dead stop for about 30 to 40 minutes - where everyone enjoyed a little stretch break and time to get to know other travelers - the traffic started moving again. As we crept along the first thing that came into view was the smoke, followed by police cars, a few fire fighters, and a lot of scorched earth. There was a fire truck still putting out flames on the bank of the river as we passed by. Last to come into view was the actual cause of the fire - a truck that was pulling a trailer that some how caught on fire. The truck was parked on the shoulder mostly extinguished and all that was left of the trailer was the metal frame.

We had just passed the truck when it exploded... it was pretty awful... it looked like everyone was out of the vehicles (including a dog) when we passed

When my family and I drove by going towards Biggs the truck was fully engulfed and the trailer was just starting. It was so hot when you drove by.

I was in this lovely traffic jam today. We first got stopped just west of Biggs, and it took us over an hour to get to where the truck was. I have a lot of pictures to share. If you want to post them, email me itsgonnabeme22@gmail.com
