Remember that Video I uploaded?
Well, it turns out that what I have captured was a rare sight indeed. It was a "Naked Sunspot"
and WOW! it is a rare event .

I hope that KATU can use this.

Both the Video and the Picture were taken using the Sony HDR-XR 520V

and a safety reminder about both person and equipment:
Do not look at the sun directly as this can burn your cornea. Do not point the camera directly at the sun unless you use proper UV FIlters as you do run the risk of burning up your equipment.

It was truly magnificent it was a rare event indeed. I was wrong with regards to the fires filtering the smoke then. then it was a blood sun. Many unusual events in the heavens that day.

I remember stopping at a park and taking pictures of the sun that day. The sky looked crazy and i could look directly at the redish colored sun and not have it hurt my eyes. It was rather beautiful actually..

Its ok Brian I made mistake it is an "Open-eye sunspot" lol Not a naked sunspot lol embarrassing. But the rare part is getting one where one isn't blinded by the sun and where one doesn't have use special filters to keep from frying ones camera.
